Information On Mobile Alabama Urgent Care

By Eric Brooks

AACUM has produced statistical data that shows a 14 percent growth in the number of urgent care centers in the United States. This growth has been steady since 2008 and is likely to continue into the foreseeable future. Currently, there are over 9300 centers in the whole of the United States and the number continues to grow steadily at the rate of 300 centers every year. Over 300 centers are being established annually since 2011. Mobile Alabama urgent care centers experience one of the most rapid growth rates.

The modern economy highly supports urgent care centers. Growth of some kind was observed in 83 percent of all facilities in the recent past. Eighty-eight percent of all facilities expanded their operations by setting up a new facility in a new place. Successfully setting up and running a facility of this kind requires considering certain factors, which are discussed in the paragraphs that follow.

The first step in establishing a facility of this kind is to choose the specialty one wants. Most practitioners in these facilities are usually trained in emergency, family, or internal medicine in most cases. However, it is important to consider offering some kind of specialized care too. One should determine the kind of health care services the facility will provide to patients. After making this choice, the next step should involve equipping the facility with the right equipment and staff to deliver the services.

Once the specialty has been chosen, the next decision one has to make relates to the location. The location should not have many similar facilities already operating in it, and the population should be high. Residents should have employment and reliable sources of income to be able to pay for the medical services offered.

One should do an analysis of the market and demographics of the location in order to make a choice. Local census agencies can help with providing population characteristics while one should do the analysis on their own. If the location is suitable, one should identify space and establish the center near the target patient population.

One should choose space that can satisfactorily serve all the needs of the facility without leaving too much space unused. When there is too much room unused, it is possible to lead to underutilized space, lost profits, and cost overruns. Every physician is recommended to have at least 1500 square feet of room to work within. That means that each would have three examination rooms to themselves.

In addition to the area set apart for physicians, a sizeable area also needs to be set apart for laboratories, radiology rooms, and the reception. The space should be designed so as to minimize the movement of physicians and the staff while maximizing the flow of patients. Effort should also be made to minimize clutter.

The design should have the comfort, convenience, and peace of mind of the patients as priority. Additionally, the environment should be warm, less clinical, and welcoming. Incorporating facilities such as free Wi-Fi, coffee stations, accessible electrical outlets, flat-screens, and fish tanks can greatly enhance patient experience. More people will be attracted to the facility if the building has big windows and good signage outside.
