All About The Esthetician Practical Exam Kit

By Peter Wright

Working as an esthetician is no mean feat. Its definitely more than art, in that it has a pint of science and practicality thrown in. In fact, it even has a state run board examination. But before we drone on and on about the needed skills, attitudes, certificates, and whatnot to make it far in this field, theres one nifty thingamajig it wouldnt do to forget. Were talking about the esthetician practical exam kit.

There are all kinds of procedures and application techniques graded in the practical exam. For example, theres the ability to apply makeup without double dipping. Theres also the able use and application of makeup supplies. Not leas is making good sure that your work area and supplies are completely aseptic. In laymans term, that means theyre free from contamination or infection.

Aseptic procedures may be more stringent than theyre warranted to be. For example, theres ensuring that the esthetician puts the makeup sponge in the pallet between uses, and never in the table top, no matter if its been overly sanitized. Of course, that applies to any other tools and implements used during the exam.

Before one turns up for the exam, it will be nifty to make sure that you have all the tools and other implements you need, weeks and even months before. Of course, it can be quite a bit of a challenging enterprise, since sourcing all requires one to stroll around perhaps three or more stores. However, there are special stores, and also online ones, that share all implements and tools of the kit in their entirety.

All throughout the examination, proper infection or contamination control must be observed. The reasons for this are pretty much intuitive. Of course, beautification and cosmetology can be a bit of an invasive procedure, and it wouldnt do to reuse tools on motley customers without them having been washed or sterilized.

Anyway, the examination commences with preparing your model and work area. The first may be a mannequin or a live model, which of which depends on the delineations of your state. Preparing your work area involves sanitizing the table surfaces in which youll be working, and also the laying out of your tools and equipment in an organized and accessible way.

Then they get down to the practical bits. This includes dealing with or removing superfluous body hair, using a soft wax removal procedure or some such. And theres also the tweezing of the models eyebrows.

Some more basic supplies up for the taking include the hand sanitizer, blood spill kit, gloves, body drape capes, and eye protection. Theres the brushes and combs, blow dryers, clippers, trimmers, blades, clips, pins, shears, flat or curling irons, rods and rollers, and even jewelry. Certain instructional materials like DVDs, textbooks, styling books and some such may come in handy prior to the examination.

All in all, these can all be divisible to general esthetic supplies and esthetic supplies. As said, exams vary by state, although it is worth noting that most abide by the official practical exam set by the national state board of cosmetology, called the national esthetics practical examination. The kit and its composite essentials will also be set by the NIC.
