For instance, licenses needed to practice in a specific region are issued by the licensing board of that particular region. The sites provide information about forms and materials the individual will need. If this information is not included on the site for your jurisdiction it may be that laws have recently been adopted and credentials are not being issued yet. In that instance links are typically provided for the laws.

Most jurisdictions offer links to ABA organization websites for every county, region, or state. The organizations typically provide additional information about the state and local laws and regulations that pertain to ABA practices and licensing requirements.

In 1998, the BACB was established to meet the need for standardized credentialing for these professionals. The need for standardized credentialing was identified by consumers, governments, and behavioral analysts. Based on international standards, the certification requirements, practice procedures, and exam content, is reviewed regularly. Experts in the field establish the exam content for BACB and all requirements.

Individuals interested in this area of psychology should examine the various programs offered on campus and online. There are some very credible programs that will prepare the student for this interesting field. Find out if the program you are interested in is accredited before registering. Once you have completed your bachelors and masters degree you may want to go one step further and obtain your doctorate in the field.
